Brand NEW Slitter Coming Soon to OPP!
OPP Adds Slitting Line
Ohio Pickling & Processing, Toledo, Ohio, is adding a new ultra-high-strength Braner/Loopco slitting line, the installation of which will be completed by the end of the first quarter 2022. The new line will be the company’s third slitting line. Ohio Pickling & Processing is a leading toll processor of hot-rolled, cold-rolled and coated flat-rolled steel.
OPP’s new ultra-high-strength high-speed double loop 72-inch turret head slitting line will be able to process 72-inch-wide, 35-ton master coils .024 inches to .250 inches. Material types include hot-rolled, cold-rolled, and coated coils with mechanical properties up to 290,000 psi tensile.
The new line will feature a double loop slitting system design and a shape-correcting cluster leveler with full gauge range capabilities to produce superior quality slit coil. The line will also feature a quick change (duplex) roll tension stand to allow for quick change over between surface critical and non-surface critical material to ensure clean slit product for all material types.
To accommodate the new slitting line, OPP has undergone a 30,000-square-foot expansion to its existing 200,000 square-foot facility.
Complementing the slitting line is a semi-automatic slit coil packaging line that will efficiently strap, sort and package individual coils weighing up to 15,000 pounds, packaging one piece per minute. This slit line will be capable of processing surface critical, cold-rolled steel, coated steel such as galvanized, painted and aluminized, as well as ultra-high strength carbon steel, hot-roll pickle and oil and pickle dry.
“We are excited to offer the enhanced capabilities of this new line to our customers. I am certain this line will meet and exceed their needs,” says Operations Manager Kevin Burnett. “The automation package, comprehensive system guarding, and additional upgraded features will be a delight to both our employees and customer base for years to come.”
